Mystery Labs on second Saturday of each month will be held virtually on Zoom. Every fourth Saturday Mystery Lab will be at the El Faro Beacon Community Center.

The Spellbound Mystery, Sci-fi Dramatist Lab, offers community playwrights an opportunity to harness their skill in a thrilling and exciting genre, rarely expressed on the American stage.

In the 19th century, melodrama was the most popular form of theater. Now in the 21st century, plays of mystery and mayhem are but a scattered few, while science fiction is almost exclusively devoted to film and television. It is the intention of the Spellbound Mystery Sci-fi Dramatist Lab to not only resurrect the spirit of melodrama, but to offer it the unrelenting voice of the African American experience.

The Spellbound Mystery Sci-fi Lab is open to playwrights, actors and other theater professionals.
